Reading aid
Every page of my website has a reading aid. With it you can make the text bigger, calmer or clearer, or have it read aloud. There is nothing to install and no need to log in. The reading aid is also in the customer portal and on your personal PowerNexx pages, such as a quote, invoice or agreement.
Who is it for?
For anyone who finds reading on a screen difficult. For example if you are partially sighted, if letters start to dance because of dyslexia, if you are a little older and small print tires you, or if you simply prefer listening to reading.
You choose what helps you. One feature on, or a few at once: for example bigger text with more space and an easy-to-read font.
How to open it
On a phone the button is in the bar at the top, next to the menu: a dark button with an eye. Tap it and the panel opens below the bar.
On a computer there is a dark button with an eye and the words “Reading aid” at the bottom left. Click it and the panel opens above it.
In the customer portal and on your personal pages, such as a quote or invoice, the button is at the top, next to the other buttons.
Close the panel again with the cross or the Esc key. If you use the keyboard, Tab takes you to the button and Enter opens it.
What each feature does
A feature is on when it says “On”. Choose it again to switch it off.
| Text size | A+ and A− make everything on the page bigger or smaller, in five steps from 100% to 175%. |

| High contrast | Black text on a white background, without coloured areas. Links turn dark blue and underlined. |
| Dark screen | Reverses the colours: a dark background with light text. Photos stay as they are. Pleasant if bright light tires you. |
| More space | More space between lines, letters and words, and between paragraphs. That helps with dyslexia. |
| Easy-to-read font | Puts all text in a simple, wide font (Verdana or a similar font on your device). |
| Clear links | All links get a yellow background and a thick underline, so you spot them straight away. |
| Animations off | Switches off all animations and moving transitions. The drawings then stand completely still straight away. |
| Large pointer | A larger mouse pointer, black with a white edge. Works with a mouse, not on a touch screen. |
| Reading ruler | A light bar that moves with your mouse; the rest of the screen goes darker. That makes it easy to keep your place on the line you are reading. Works with a mouse. |
| Read the page aloud | Your browser reads the text of the page aloud, part by part. The part being read is highlighted in yellow. |
| Click on text | Switch this on and then click on a piece of text: only that part is read aloud. Stop ends the reading. |
| Reset everything | Puts all choices back to normal in one go. |
High contrast and dark screen do not go together: if you choose one, the other switches off. Reading aloud works in most browsers, such as Chrome, Edge and Safari. If your browser cannot do it, the panel says so.
What happens to your choices
Your choices are only stored on your own device, in your browser. If you come back later or open another page, everything is still as you left it. On another device or in another browser you start again. Pages on facturen.powernexx.nl, such as a quote or invoice, remember your choices separately.
Nothing is sent to me: the reading aid sends no data to my website and does not track what you do. Reading aloud is also done by your own browser, with a voice on your device; some browsers fetch that voice from their own maker.
Want to clear everything? Choose “Reset everything” in the panel, or clear this website's data in your browser.
