Solar panel electrical connection in the Netherlands
I take care of the electrical side of your PV installation: changes to the consumer unit, connecting the inverter, cabling and registration with the grid operator. Solar panels on the roof I install through a regular partner. You have one point of contact for the whole process.
Only the electrical work, no panels needed? That is possible too.

What I take care of and what my partner does
One quote, two specialists: everything is arranged for you without you having to coordinate.
My partner takes care of the solar panels on the roof, the mounting system, the DC cabling, installation by a certified roofing team and supplying the inverter.
- On-site electrical survey (free with a quote)
- Consumer unit check, with changes if needed
- Connecting the inverter with AC cabling (NEN 1010)
- Registration with the grid operator (export)
- Coordination on smart meter and export
- Handover with test report and certificate in your customer portal
- Coordination with the partner for the panels
Who do I do the electrical connection for?
- Homes: consumer unit changes and connecting the inverter
- Export and smart meter arranged
- Combining with an EV charger or connecting a battery
- Business premises: consumer unit and inverter for commercial roofs, logistics, production or offices
- Connection for energy management when charging your fleet
- For property owners (letting)
Smart combinations with other installations
With an EV charger
Charge your car with surplus solar power. Smart EV chargers (Zaptec, easee) handle this automatically.
With a new consumer unit
Many old consumer units lack room for solar panels. I combine the changes and the installation in one go.
With a battery
Connecting a battery, on quotation. I connect it to the consumer unit and inverter, the supply goes through a partner.
With a smart meter
Energy management times your usage for the right moment and gets more out of your installation.
How does the electrical work go?
From first contact to handover in 5 steps.
- Contact or quote request: call for a consumer unit check or fill in the form. I discuss your situation and the partner for the panels.
- On-site electrical survey, free: consumer unit, location of the inverter and the position with the grid operator. Concrete advice on the spot.
- Tailored quote within 3 working days, with a guide price. Transparent: electrical work and notifications to the grid operator.
- Electrical connection: consumer unit, inverter and AC cabling. At the same time the partner installs the panels on the roof.
- Handover: testing and test report in the portal. Export arranged with the grid operator.
Questions about solar panels
Do I need a new consumer unit?
Often, yes. Many old consumer units lack room for the PV circuit and its protection. I check this at the site survey and give advice. Combining it with the installation is usually cheaper than doing it separately.
Am I always allowed to export to the grid?
For a single-family home: usually yes, provided your main connection is big enough. For large installations (10+ panels) notifying the grid operator is mandatory. I arrange this notification.
What is an inverter and which brand?
An inverter converts DC power from the panels to AC for your home. I install SMA, Solis, Huawei and GoodWe, depending on the situation. A monitoring app comes as standard.
How long does the installation take?
Standard installation: 1 day for panels and inverter. If the consumer unit needs changes: 1 to 2 days. The site survey beforehand sets the exact schedule.
Do I get a guarantee?
Yes. My installation comes with a 2-year guarantee. On top of that, the manufacturer's warranties on panels and inverter apply.
Can I combine it with an EV charger for my car?
Yes, highly recommended. A smart EV charger (Zaptec, easee) charges on surplus solar power. Request a combined quote for the best return.
Do I need a battery?
Not required, but worth considering now that net metering is going. A battery shifts the surplus to the evening. The payback time of a battery varies. I give tailored advice.
What if my roof needs strengthening or replacing?
I establish that beforehand at the site survey. I do not do roofing work myself, but I work with reliable roofers. Sometimes it is cheaper to do the roof and the solar panels in one go.

A dynamic contract and a home battery: is it worth it
With a dynamic contract the battery can charge when electricity is cheap. That works, provided you let it be controlled automatically.

More and more suppliers charge for feeding your solar power back into the grid. Your bill shows what that costs you.

Your panels keep generating just as much. What changes is the value of the electricity you feed back.
