What does it cost to install an EV charger in the Netherlands?
The cost of an EV charger at home or for your business depends on your connection and your choice. On this page you will find an indication and the factors that affect the price.
single-phase or three-phaseOne quote for EV charger and consumer unitInvoice for your grant2 years guarantee
What determines the cost?
Installing an EV charger needs a safe connection and often a change to your consumer unit. Whether you have single-phase or three-phase partly determines the options and the cost.
Every situation is different. That is why I always give a tailored quote. It clearly lists the wallbox, the cabling, any extension of the consumer unit and the labour.
I work to the applicable standards and make sure the documentation is right. You can apply for grants yourself; I supply the invoice you need.
Example scenarios
Single-phase EV charger (up to 7.4 kW)
Suitable for most electric cars. An extra circuit with an RCD in the consumer unit is often needed. The price depends on the distance and the consumer unit.
Three-phase EV charger (11 kW or more)
For faster charging at home or for your business. This needs a three-phase connection. If you do not have one yet, you may need to apply for it with the grid operator. The cost of the connection is not part of my quote.
Consumer unit extension for an EV charger
If your consumer unit has no room for an extra circuit yet, I include the extension in the project. That way you get one quote for EV charger and consumer unit.
Price indication
Your tailored quote always takes precedence.

| EV charger connection in the consumer unit, from | € 424 incl. VAT |
| EV charger connection in the consumer unit, up to | € 962 incl. VAT |
Factors that affect the price
- Type of connection: single-phase or three-phase; three-phase can need more capacity and sometimes a change by the grid operator.
- Distance to the consumer unit: longer cabling means more materials and labour.
- Consumer unit extension: an extra circuit and RCD if needed.
- Type of wallbox: a basic or a smart EV charger; I give tailored advice.
- Grid operator: applying for or upgrading to a three-phase connection goes through the grid operator and has its own costs and lead time.
Questions about EV charger costs
What does it cost to install an EV charger?
The cost depends on a single-phase or three-phase connection, the type of wallbox and whether your consumer unit needs extending. Request a tailored quote.
Does my consumer unit need changing?
Often, yes. An EV charger needs its own circuit and often an RCD. I assess your meter cupboard and include any extension in the quote.
Do I need three-phase for an EV charger?
For an EV charger of 11 kW or more, yes. For most electric cars single-phase (up to 7.4 kW) is enough. If you do not have three-phase yet, a connection from the grid operator may be needed; that cost is not part of my quote.
Is a quote for an EV charger free of obligation?
Yes. You receive a transparent quote. I only go ahead with the installation once you agree. If more turns out to be needed on site, a longer cable for example, I discuss it with you first.
What is included in the price?
Depending on the quote: the wallbox, cabling, any extension of the consumer unit, labour and documentation. You arrange grants yourself; I supply the invoice and details you need.

Moving house with an EV charger: take it with you or leave it behind
You can take the charger with you, but not the cable or the work in the meter cupboard. Leaving it behind and settling up is often the most sensible choice.

It is usually the cable, the car or a setting, not the charger. Check it in this order.

Several charge points on one connection call for load sharing and a fair way of billing. That is more admin than installation work.
